SPRA NextGen is an initiative focused on promoting single ply roofing as a viable and rewarding career for the next generation.
The sector offers skilled, long-term career opportunities, yet many young people are unaware of the routes into the industry. NextGen exists to raise awareness, highlight the career pathways, and support the future workforce of the sector.

With Build UK
Open Doors
Open Doors is a Build UK initiative that opens live construction sites to visitors, showcasing the range of careers available across the industry. The 2026 edition ran from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 March, with more than 160 events across the UK — among them Buckingham Palace, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Prince Charles Hospital and Dundonald International Ice Bowl. Visitor bookings passed almost 2,000 in the first three days alone.
SPRA members can support Open Doors by hosting an event, helping young people book a visit, or promoting events to schools, colleges and on social media.

Supporting service leavers
SPRA NextGen attends British Forces Resettlement Services events to connect ex-military personnel with opportunities in single ply roofing. These events introduce service leavers and veterans to careers in roofing, connect them with SPRA contractor members, and highlight the training routes into the industry.
